Jurgens comes to help celebrate the 110th anniversary of this iconic character, with timing to align with the bestselling comics Jurgens has ever written (and drawn): November 1992 Superman #75 (“Superman’s Death”).

Jurgens, the creator of Booster Gold, has written and/or drawn bestselling titles including Teen TitansAnd the Justice League of AmericaAnd the captain AmericaAnd the Spider Man, oxAnd the green arrowAnd the night suiteAnd theTomb rider over the years. It’s a pretty cool resume, and adding a character like Tarzan to it seems just right.

“There are a few fictional characters that are instantly recognizable in a wide range of countries, for people of all ages. Tarzan is one of those characters, and I am honored to write his most recent stories,” Jurgens said in a statement. “Tarzan’s creator Edgar Rice Burroughs created one of the greats of all time and gave those who came later a deep and rich legacy to work through. We look forward to exploring Tarzan’s hidden past that may put him in something light new. We hope you’ll join us on this journey and get Lots of fun as we are.”

Along with artist Benito Gallego, Jurgens will recreate Tarzan for fans and longtime readers alike. Across the series, the full life of a typical jungle action hero will be traced, from birth to adulthood. A secondary framing device weaves together the primary story, as the older Tarzan reflects on his life and the changing world around him, reflecting contemporary concerns that continue to this day.

Learn about Tarzan’s legacy, from his aristocratic background and eventual flirtation with this lifestyle, to his early days raised by apes, and his fearsome rivalries with humans and animals alike. What will happen to this man in his wild world?

The series features a star-studded cast of Jurgens’ artist friends and colleagues, including Gary Frank, Lee Weeks, Dan Panosian, and Josh Burns.

“I’ve known Dan for 30 years, and have worked with him on many levels. I’ve wanted to work with him on Dynamite as a writer for years, but he’s had a full workload and last year he’s been working on making time for Lord of the Jungle and we’re so excited to have him on board !” said Nick Barucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite. While Dan may be known for his work on SupermanAnd the captain AmericaAnd the gold booster and others, he has dealt with more characters in his illustrious career. When Dan was fired Tomb rider For Top Cow, it was the first book of the year – let me repeat that, Tomb rider #1 was the top title of the year, and Dan was a driving force. His ability to tell stories is one of the strongest abilities in the field, and when working with other artists, Dan has been able to bring out the best artists he has worked with, through his remarkable career. ox With John Romita Jr., Andy Kubert, and Stuart Imonen, to name a few. Dan brings in his A-game, because he doesn’t know any other game to fetch, and he’ll bring the best of Benito Gallego’s art to the page. And let’s talk about Benito for a moment, an amazing artist influenced by John Bussima, we couldn’t have picked a better artist for the series! The icing on the cake is Gary Frank, Lee Weeks, Dan Panossian, and Josh Burns! “
